MEET CHERYL
I support adults and teenagers navigating stress, communication challenges, emotional overwhelm and difficult relationship dynamics — whether that's with family, friends, colleagues or partners.
I also work with small businesses, managers and employees around workplace communication, people challenges and wellbeing.
How I Came to This Work
I didn’t come into counselling just through study.
My work has always been about people — supporting them through pressure, conflict, uncertainty, change, and the moments where communication breaks down and things feel harder than they should.
Over the years, I’ve worked closely with individuals navigating stress, relationships, and the quiet weight of holding everything together. I’ve also lived the reality of balancing work, family, and life’s more difficult seasons — including burnout and grief.
I’ve personally experienced the value of talk therapy and the growth that can come from it. Having space to say things as they are, to feel heard without judgement, can bring clarity — and help you move forward in a way that feels right for you.
I’ve always had a natural ability to notice what’s not being said — and create a space where people feel comfortable enough to say it.
My experience extends beyond counselling. Before establishing Chat It Out Counselling and Wellness, I spent more than 20 years working across business management, leadership and HR. I continue to work part-time in the housing sector and manage a youth mentoring program in South Australia, keeping me connected to the realities of workplaces, teams, leadership and the challenges people navigate every day.
How I work
My approach is person-centred meaning this is your space, your time, and we go at your pace. You decide what feels important to talk about. There’s no expectation to have the right words or a clear goal — through gentle, supportive questioning, we can figure things out together.
Counselling with me isn’t about analysing every detail of the past. It’s about understanding what you’re carrying now, how it’s affecting you, and what might help you feel better moving forward.
Progress looks different for everyone. Progress can be quiet. Sometimes it’s simply feeling a little lighter when you leave the room. Sometimes it’s learning to set boundaries, manage overwhelming thoughts, or trust yourself again.

A Bit About Me
Outside of counselling, I’m a beach & garden, live band and dog loving type of person.
I’m also a mum of two and a Reiki Master. I value the simple things — good food, music, family, sunshine, and space to reset.
